Tour guides needed in Reykjavik!

 


 

Working for the Reykjavik Haunted Walk is one of the most exciting and rewarding opportunities out there.  Our company is made up of some of the the best tour guides in Iceland, and we go to great lengths to get and keep the most interesting and competent people around. 

 

It is a work environment where all tour guides play an important role in developing and promoting the tours.  It is this “entrepreneurial” aspect of the work which keeps our guides coming back for a third or fourth season, long after they cease to be afraid of ghosts! 

 

Our staff come from diverse backgrounds, many with experience in acting, tour guiding, history or tourism, but all have that positive and unique outlook that make our tours so popular.

Positions:  REYKJAVIK TOUR GUIDE / STORYTELLER
Location: Reykjavik, Iceland 
Season:  Winter and Summer 2009
Hrs/week: PT: Average of 3-4 three hour shifts / week during high season.

Rate of pay:  $confidential/hr.
Hours: PT: All work is in the afternoon and or evening.   

Languages: English and Iclandic in the Winter. English, Icelandic, German, French speaking guides needed for next summer June to end of September 2007.            

 

Tour guides are the heart and soul of the Reykjavik Haunted Walk. 

 

 They breathe life into the stories and make certain that every one of our customers goes home satisfied (if not a little scared).  They must be willing to learn a provided tour script and a fair amount of local history. 

 

They must also be willing to wear an appropriate tour uniform (ie. cloak and lantern) and work in all kinds of weather.

 

Successful candidates will possess:

An interest in local and Icelandic history.

A mature, professional attitude and appearance.

A flair for the dramatic!

An abundance of diplomacy and tact.

A willingness to learn and follow a set of standards.

A positive, cheerful and optimistic disposition.

An ability to work and contribute ideas as part of a team.

An entrepreneurial spirit.

 

Previous or current certification in emergency first aid (or a willingness to become certified). 

 

Bilingualism and tourism or acting experience will be considered strong assets.
